Reading Retelling Questions & Strategies: This document lists all skills and content knowledge students need to master for each quarter of first grade.
Leveled Book List: This is a list of book titles organized by reading level. You can take this with you to the public library or the bookstore to help you find books that are just right for your child's reading level.
Reading Decoding Strategies: This is a colorful picture chart of the most commonly used decoding strategies for first grade. This is a handy tool to print and keep handy wherever you read with your child.
This is a copy of all the sight words we will be working on this year. You can make flashcards of the words to practice at home. Start with 1-25, and then go on from there! If your child can already read all the words on this list, you can pick words from the books you read together. Make a list of tricky words that your child has difficulty reading. Put these on flash cards and your child can practice reading more challenging words.
